Telepathy Changes the Herd Dynamics

It was an unseasonably hot Thursday in mid-May, and John was anxious to get his twelve bulls out into their newly created summer pasture on his farm.

After putting the heifers in the barn John was able to coax Richard and three of the larger, older bulls out to the new pasture. It took gentle coaxing to get eight more of the herd, who went finally racing by me as they twisted and turned down the ‘runway’, to the field. That left Graceland to come on his own.

Graceland was still quite young (just a year old), and although he had been out in the pasture with the bulls last summer, he was still very small.  John felt he needed time to get stronger before being with the larger bulls in the smaller winter quarters, so he spent the past winter with the Mom’s, heifers, and in the spring, with the new calves.

Graceland is such a sensitive, social and playful bull. He was the first cow that kissed me when John introduced them to me this spring in the barn, and whenever a new calf was born, Graceland would wander over to the ‘Mommy Pen’ and try to stay close to the wee calf, and if possible, kiss it and gently welcome it into the world.

John walked Graceland out to the pasture, and since he had already been with the bulls last summer, he assumed that the herd would welcome him back easily. That was not to be the case! It was late that afternoon and we were both tired, so we didn’t find out the herd’s response until the following morning.

I was heading out to the Sugar Maple forest to do some spring cleanup late morning, before the temperatures raised any higher than the current 25 degrees Celcius, and my intuition told me I had to stop in and check on the bulls instead. I wandered over to see them in the pasture, and was shocked to see them standing with their bodies heaving, tongues thick and hanging out with drool dripping off them. With their winter coats still on, they were obviously already suffering from the heat.

I immediately went to get John who dropped everything to come and see what was happening. He quickly hooked up a hose and I started spraying them with water to try and bring their body temperatures down. Slowly it worked, and we discussed how to give them more shade that afternoon.

At the same time though, John and I were stunned to see four young bulls in a gang following Graceland and trying to mount him one by one. Graceland was exhausted in the heat and frightened by what was happening…….and so was I!

I started spraying the hose directly on the young bulls to keep them away from him, and sprayed him down gently to get his body cooler. John got into the pasture with the bulls and chased them away to separate them from Graceland, while I stayed with Graceland and kept spraying the bulls so he would get a rest.

John left to get some new fence posts and fencing supplies to build a new shade area, and when we went back again to the field we were horrified as Graceland had snuck under the fence to get back with the herd, who now all seemed bent on mounting Graceland. They were all lined up behind one another, and even the gentle leader, Richard, who is 1600 pounds to Graceland’s 350 pounds, surprisingly also took a turn.

I got the hose out and again was spraying the bulls as they came close to Graceland, and said we needed to do something or he wouldn’t survive. By this time we were both afraid for his safety and I kept vigil with the hose until late in the evening.

Neither of us slept much. John separated Graceland again from the herd. I asked my angelic guides for protection for Graceland, and sent the herd love, peace and harmony. It was quiet during the night, but the next morning the whole herd again was trying to mount him. Once more we put him in an area of his own and the rest of the day was thankfully quiet.

However the next day we found that Gorman had gotten into the pasture with Graceland and begun the assault again. Graceland desperately wanted to be with the herd, and came back under the fence, so I set my cell phone timer for every 20 minutes. Back I went and hosed the offending bulls and growled loudly at them until noon when John was back.

John came over to shaded area where they were all lying down relatively peacefully, and he continued shooing away the young ones. He gave the gentle leader of the herd a daily neck and shoulder rub and I asked him to do it while I telepathically spoke to Graceland who was near me by the fence. I told him how proud I was of him, that it wasn’t his fault they were bullying him, and how good, courageous and strong I thought he was. As he stood there, I gave him some reiki.

A little while later the herd moved back out into the grazing field and we watched in awe, and trepidation, as Graceland walked boldly all the way down the field to the grazing herd, all the while knowing they were going to gang up on him when he got there.

Later in the afternoon the bulls were again in the shaded area close to the fence and I was alone (on the other side of the fence). I decided to give Richard some reiki, and telepathically communicated with him as I was doing so. I told him he was a good, strong and compassionate leader and he could turn things around for Graceland. I said that the herd would follow his lead if he set boundaries to protect Graceland from their abuse.

I shared that Graceland was a sensitive, brave and courageous young bull, and that he would be very proud to have him as part of the herd, and indicated that Graceland had the strength of character and sensitivity to also be a strong leader like Richard one day. I asked Richard to change the dynamics of the energy within the herd and bring harmony back into it.

After dinner the herd left the shaded area and went back out into the pasture leaving only Richard and Graceland in the shade. Since my silent communications with the two of them, Richard had been sitting all afternoon in front of Graceland and had been blocking the other bulls from getting near him.

Richard stood up and started walking towards the herd. Graceland also stood, and followed about 20 feet behind Richard at a respectful distance. About two thirds of the way down, Richard started grazing and Graceland sat down and waited.

Frank, the second in charge (who wanted to be leader) came back from the herd and met Richard and started butting heads with Richard over his new stance on Graceland’s acceptance into the herd. Richard stood his ground and was unmoved by Frank’s attempt to sway him, and soon Richard, with Graceland following, were absorbed quietly back into the herd.

During the following days Richard was constantly shadowed by Graceland and things went back to normal. Graceland had finally been accepted into the herd due to Richard’s decision to support Graceland both physically, and energetically.
